3rd-Generation Fully Synchronized PLL Technology
The S18 EVO features a third-generation PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) core with full clock synchronization technology that dynamically detects and eliminates deviations between the reference clock and the feedback clock. This reduces clock signal jitter to the femtosecond level and ensures a highly unified time base across all units during high-speed data processing. The result is a stable, pure, and fully synchronized clock foundation for the entire system.

Most USB DAC circuits on the market follow a conventional design: two crystal oscillators provide clock signals for the XMOS chip. To fully unlock the potential of XMOS in combination with aune’s custom drivers, the S18 EVO uses an ultra-low-jitter PLL to deliver a superior clock signal. This ensures full device synchronization and enables true high-fidelity reproduction.
Fully Synchronized IIS Signal Path
Direct-to-DAC Architecture
AES, optical, and coaxial inputs are reconditioned using digital synchronization technology combined with a low-jitter PLL. All signals are then fed into the DAC via the IIS interface—resulting in higher fidelity, more natural reproduction, and authentic sound across all inputs.

Hi-Fi Bluetooth Performance
Conventional Bluetooth signals typically exhibit high jitter, which can lead to audible distortion when sent directly to a DAC. aune uses its proprietary Bluetooth and PLL technology to recondition the digital signal before passing it to the DAC—delivering high-fidelity sound even via Bluetooth.

Unlike conventional single-chip or asynchronously clocked DACs, the S18 EVO uses an external PLL as a clock reference for two AK4497 chips. Combined with mirrored circuitry, layout, and components, this ensures precise coordination between left and right channels—recreating the cohesive soundstage of a live concert hall.
